Disney Plus Is Getting a TikTok-Style Vertical Feed This Year

Is Disney+ trying to become the next TikTok? During its Global Tech & Data Showcase at CES, the streaming giant revealed plans to introduce a dedicated vertical video feed later this year.

According to Disney EVP Erin Teague, this new feature aims to consolidate short-form content into a unified experience. The feed won’t just be for social clips; it will mix original short-form programming with repurposed scenes from movies and episodic TV. Teague described the initiative as a way to offer “all the short-form Disney content you’d want in one unified app.”

This pivot signals a major strategic shift for the streamer. By embracing vertical video—a format popularized by Gen Z—Disney+ is clearly looking to boost engagement and ad inventory by meeting users where they already spend their screen time: scrolling on their phones. The rollout is expected to begin later this year.
