SpaceX has just received a major regulatory green light to significantly accelerate its global internet ambitions. The Federal Communications Commission (FCC) has granted approval for the company to launch an additional 7,500 Starlink satellites.
This latest authorization builds upon previous permissions, allowing SpaceX to deploy a total of 15,000 second-generation (Gen2) satellites into low-Earth orbit. This expansion is crucial for the company as it aims to enhance bandwidth capacity and compete more aggressively in the broadband market.
While the full Gen2 constellation originally sought approval for nearly 30,000 units, this partial approval marks a significant step forward. Ultimately, this decision paves the way for faster, more reliable internet access for users worldwide, solidifying SpaceX’s dominance in the space-based communications sector.
