Replit CEO Amjad Masad has declared a new era of software development: “vibe coding.”
Speaking on the impact of AI agents, Masad argued that non-technical founders and CEOs no longer need to wait on engineering teams to build initial prototypes. By leveraging AI tools within platforms like Replit, leaders can now describe their vision in natural language and watch the code generate in real-time.
This shift moves the role of the CEO from begging for resources to directing the output. While this democratizes creation and accelerates early-stage validation, it raises questions about technical debt. Can “vibed” code scale? Or will engineers eventually be hired just to rewrite the CEO’s messy MVP? Regardless, the barrier to entry for building software has officially hit the floor.
