Microsoft’s AI PC Gamble: Why Sales Are Slumping and Partners Are Panicking

The “AI PC” revolution is facing a harsh reality check. Despite heavy marketing from Microsoft and partners like Intel and AMD, consumers are largely shrugging at the new wave of AI-enabled hardware. The central issue? A classic “chicken and egg” scenario. Without a compelling lineup of native AI applications—beyond the initial buzz of Copilot—users see little reason to upgrade perfectly functional existing machines.

Consequently, PC manufacturers are reportedly scrambling to adjust their strategies. The industry is now banking on the rollout of advanced “Copilot+” features to drive demand later this year. However, current sales data suggests that the hardware is ready, but the software ecosystem simply hasn’t caught up yet.
