After winning the prestigious Best In Show award at CES 2026, Lego’s Smart Brick platform has just revealed a feature that elevates it from a toy to a serious tool for adult builders.
While the initial demos wowed us, The Verge has uncovered a semi-secret capability: precise distance measurement. By utilizing a custom “Lego Ruler,” users can attach a Smart Brick to one end and drag a second brick along the track to measure length in studs or centimeters with high accuracy.
This transforms the Smart Brick into a digital caliper, allowing for perfectly scaled MOCs (My Own Creations) and complex engineering projects within the Lego system. It effectively bridges the gap between physical play and digital precision, suggesting a future where Lego handles the math for you.
