Waymo Rebrands Zeekr Robotaxi: A New Name for the Future of Autonomous Transport

Waymo, the autonomous driving unit under Alphabet, is rolling out a fresh identity for its custom-built electric vehicle. The robotaxi, originally manufactured in partnership with Chinese automaker Zeekr, is undergoing a rebranding effort to align with Waymo’s expanding “Waymo One” ride-hailing service.

While the technical specifications and safety features of the sixth-generation vehicle remain state-of-the-art, the new branding strategy focuses on public recognition and trust. The shift highlights Waymo’s transition from testing phases to full-scale commercial operations in San Francisco, Phoenix, and Los Angeles. As the competition in the autonomous mobility space heats up, establishing a distinct brand identity is crucial for Waymo to stand out against rivals like Tesla and Cruise.
