Disney is officially pivoting to meet the modern viewing habits of Gen Z and younger audiences. Announced during their Global Tech & Data Showcase at CES, Disney Plus will introduce a dedicated vertical video feed later this year.
According to Erin Teague, Disney’s EVP of Product Management, this new feature won’t just be for social clips. The feed will act as a hub for a mix of content, including original short-form programming, repurposed social media moments, and refashioned scenes from the massive library of movies and series already available on the platform.
Teague described the vision as a place for “all the short-form Disney content you’d want in one unified app.” This move signals a significant shift in strategy for legacy streamers, acknowledging the dominance of apps like TikTok and Instagram Reels. While the full functionality will evolve over time, the goal is clear: keep users engaged within the Disney ecosystem by offering the bite-sized, mobile-first content they crave.
