Disney Plus Joins the TikTok Era: Vertical Video Feed Coming This Year

Disney is officially pivoting to meet the modern viewing habits of Gen Z and younger audiences. Announced during their Global Tech & Data Showcase at CES, the company confirmed that a dedicated vertical video feed will be rolling out to Disney Plus later this year.

According to Erin Teague, EVP of Product Management, this isn’t just about changing screen orientation. The feature is designed to aggregate short-form content into a unified experience. Users can expect a mix of original short-form programming, repurposed social clips, and refashioned scenes from existing movies and series.

Teague emphasized that the goal is to create a “one unified app” experience where all the short-form Disney content a user could want is easily accessible. As the line between traditional streaming and social media blurs, Disney Plus is evolving to ensure its massive library remains relevant in an era dominated by bite-sized, mobile-first entertainment.
