Disney is officially pivoting to meet the digital habits of the next generation. During their Global Tech & Data Showcase at CES, the company confirmed that a dedicated vertical video feed will be rolling out to Disney Plus later this year.
According to Erin Teague, EVP of Product Management, this isn’t just about changing screen orientation. The platform aims to become a unified hub for short-form entertainment, potentially featuring everything from original programming to refashioned scenes from blockbuster movies and series. Teague envisions a TikTok-esque experience where users can access “all the short-form Disney content you’d want in one place.”
For advertisers and tech enthusiasts, this move signals a major strategy shift. By repurposing IP for vertical consumption, Disney is aggressively targeting younger demographics while seeking new revenue streams outside of traditional, long-form episodic binging. We can expect the interface to evolve rapidly as the application launches.
