Disney has officially announced that Disney+ will introduce a dedicated vertical video feed later this year. Revealed during their Global Tech & Data Showcase at CES, this move signals a major shift in how the streaming giant delivers content to its subscribers.
According to Disney EVP Erin Teague, the new feed will be more than just a repository for TikTok clips. Instead, it aims to be a unified hub for short-form entertainment. This includes original short-form programming, repurposed social media content, and even refashioned scenes from existing movies and series.
By adapting the popular, mobile-first scrolling format popularized by social media, Disney is clearly looking to engage younger demographics and increase retention time within the app. This update positions Disney+ to compete directly with platforms like TikTok and YouTube while offering a unique, curated experience for fans of their franchises.
