Disney Plus Announces Vertical Video Feed: The Streamer’s TikTok-Style Pivot

Disney is embracing the mobile-first era by officially announcing a new vertical video feed for Disney Plus, set to launch later this year. Revealed during the company’s Global Tech & Data Showcase at CES, this feature aims to modernize the streaming experience by catering to changing viewer habits.

According to Erin Teague, Disney’s EVP of Product Management, the new feed will aggregate a mix of content. This includes original short-form programming, repurposed social clips, and refashioned scenes from the service’s vast library of movies and episodic titles. The goal is a unified hub where users can access bite-sized content without leaving the app.

Teague emphasized that this is just the beginning of an evolving experience. This move signals a strategic shift to compete with short-form platforms like TikTok, while leveraging Disney’s massive IP to keep users engaged.
