Intel Takes Aim at Handheld Gaming with Custom Panther Lake Chips

Intel is officially entering the dedicated handheld gaming arena. Announced yesterday, the tech giant is developing a comprehensive “handheld gaming platform” anchored by its upcoming Panther Lake processors. This strategic pivot puts Intel in direct competition with Qualcomm, which is teasing Windows gaming handhelds for the Game Developers Conference, and AMD, whose new Strix Halo chips are setting performance benchmarks.

According to reports from IGN and TechCrunch, Intel plans to manufacture a specific Intel Core G3 variant tailored exclusively for portable form factors. By leveraging its cutting-edge 18A process node, Intel aims to deliver integrated graphics that potentially outperform their recently announced Arc B390 GPU. This move signals a commitment to pushing the boundaries of mobile gaming efficiency and power.
