Community Showcase: New ‘I Made a Useful Thing’ Thread Launches

Moderators have announced a structural change to content submission policies today. In response to user feedback and the high volume of self-generated content, the platform is introducing a centralized weekly thread titled ‘I made a useful thing.’

This initiative is designed to keep the front page clear while still fostering innovation. Previously, many user-created scripts, software tutorials, and YouTube videos were removed under strict advertising and promotion rules. Now, the community has a dedicated sandbox to share these projects, blog posts, and guides without cluttering the main feed.

However, the enforcement line remains drawn at commercialization. While creative pet projects are welcome, moderators clarified that commercial advertisements, affiliate links, and obvious monetization grabs will continue to be removed.
